In twenty years collecting, this was the second bottle show I've been to. Auburn is about 30 minutes north of Sacramento in the Gold Country. I was at an antiques show a few weeks prior and someone told me it's the biggest bottle show in California so I decided to go. I don't collect bottles but I sensed anything could show up there, and figured there would be some advertising. There was, not a lot, but enough so I made one find, plus made some good contacts.
There's an early entry, the day before the show opens from 2:00PM to 8:00PM for $10.00. All the serious collectors come to it, as did I. Every antiques show has it's own personality. The 49er Show has one of the best atmosphere's of any I've been to in the United States. It's a red blooded American crowd, and I felt right at home. Pretty much everyone I met was genuine and friendly. Nobody wears a coat and tie, some looked like they just got off work at P.G.& E. (Northern California's primary gas and electric utility)
I'm suppose to be writing my 2007 National Story, and can't spend too much time on this, so I'll just show you the photos...Enjoy.
